When I got married before (yes I am divorced) my grandfather walked me down the aisle with my dad. Though he was almost totally blind and fought me every step of the way I won and he was on my left arm that day.
My grandpa meant the world to me. I was his “pup” and he loved me more than any grandfather could. He was so proud of who I was and everything I did in life. Well a few exception but nothing major. Even when I came home in the middle of the night as a teen and had been out drinking he did not get mad at me. He simply quietly made me a hearty healthy breakfast before allowing me to leave for school and let me know I was not as quiet as I thought when I came in the house. BUSTED!
I had insisted on having a dance with my grandpa on that wedding night. I even had the perfect song. Grandpa by The Judds. When Grandpa passed away I had included that song in the photo montage of his life. I still cry everytime I hear that song.
Grandpa, I love you, I miss you but I am happy knowing you are where you always wanted to be. Back with Grandma..
