A few months ago Natalie from Mommy of a Monster & Infant Twins told me about a meme called You Know You’re a Mom When-sDaze. I never did participate in it but I always looked forward to her post every week. Starting today she is now the new host of this weekly meme so I thought I would give it a shot and try it out.
You Know You’re a Mom When…..
- You have food stained hand prints on your beige couch and all you can do is shake your head and look forward to buying a new couch in about 15 years.
- Your 3 year old is wearing mismatched clothing and you can’t help but smile since he did dress himself with no help.
- You admit defeat and put all snacks in the upper cabinets so that your 3 year old will stop helping himself to them while you are still sleeping at 4 in the morning.
- You have Playhouse Disney tunes stuck in your head and are scared to go to sleep as you may dream about Handy Manny.
- You will stay up late just to have some alone time knowing that in the morning you will regret your decision and want more sleep.
- You don’t care that your living room is destroyed as long as you can find a place to plant your butt on the couch and relax.
So this was my first attempt. I hope you enjoyed it. Natalie does a way better job than I do but I am sure the posts will get better as Little Man continues to push every button I have including those I didn’t know existed.
One last one… this video is so moving. I smiled, nodded in agreement and had a few tears because I am such a sap. Fits in perfect with this post as well. Please take a few moments to watch it.
To read more about the video visit Alison’s blog post on it appropriately titled Reflections of Motherhood.

Actually honey if we put the cereal on a lower self he may make it himself.
I had to smile at a few of those. We have everything packed away in upper cabinets as well!
I am glad I am not the only one. We call Little Man a ninja he is so quiet and good at getting to whatever he wants.
I love this Meme. I used to joke and say “Today’s outfit brought to you by Gerber” Haha!

LOL! So very true when they are younger.
Woolite makes an upholstery cleaner that works GREAT, at least on my microfiber couches. 3 or 4 times a year after we put the babe to bed, we spray everything down, let it sit, wipe off the foam and by morning we have dry, clean furniture!

I am going to have to look into that. I would love a solution to have my couch clean at least a couple times a year.
Well that totally made me cry. {sniffle}
Hugs.
did you notice that your Twitter box is missing now? it doesn’t let me put the twitter name in anymore but it puts it into the comments. Odd.
Thanks for pointing it out. I forgot that when the theme updates I have to put back in changes I made. Which means my twitter box has been missing for awhile. OOPS! All fixed now.
I am SO guilty of staying up too late just for alone time. And I’m sure I’ll continue to do it
Thanks for linking up, and for the shout out my friend!

Anytime… I am noticing we are all guilty of staying up late for alone time. I have even stayed up after Tobei has gone to bed for complete alone time before.
The couch one killed me! I totally relate (to it and all the others as well)! Great list!
<3,
Jennie, who is currently regretting staying up late last night for alone time
I am totally going to try the Woolite an earlier commenter mentioned for the couch. I think that is why coffee was invented. For all those parents who stay up late just so they can have some quiet time.
I loved that video. Just loved it. I think the “imperfect is the new perfect” one is my favorite.
You know you’re a mom when, for the first time ever, you yell BECAUSE I SAID SO.

I haven’t had to yell that yet but I know it is coming. I have yelled the wait until your father gets home line.
Umm…Nolie…my daughter is 14, and I could STILL write all that stuff….sigh…

I tell myself when my youngest is 19 I will be home free. Only problem is I haven’t even gotten pregnant with my youngest yet. LOL!
Love this post! Thanks for making me giggle and feel more normal!!
You’re welcome. I think this meme is going to be a new favorite of mine.
LOVE this! Especially the one about staying up late just to have alone time. MY LIFE!

Last night I think we stayed up until 1. Tonight it is 11:20 and I am looking at another hour or so before bedtime.
I am guilty of a few of those…like staying up way late just to get a little ‘me’ time and letting my 4 yr old wear his super man cape and cowboy boats out in public
BTW that video was so touching!
LOL I love it. I have let Little Man play out on the lawn in underwear, a t shirt and his rain boots just because I can’t bother to fight with him to look normal.

I just loved that video so much! I’m sending it to my mom, she’ll love it too I’m sure.
I stay up WAY too late!
It is a great video. They did a great job of putting it together. Every mom has had bad times and the words in the video make us realize we all experience the same things even if we don’t admit it.
I hope you are happy now, you made me cry! Awesome video.
As for your list, it’s like we live in the same house and deal with the exact same things. LOL

Love, love, love this post. I am sap too because I started to get teary-eyed. I love your last two items about knowing you are a mom when…
I do those two things too. Following you back.

Thanks for following back. I am starting to think the last 2 are common with parents everywhere. Sometimes you just need to only care that they are clean, fed and happy. Having a messy house and being tired means that you got a little one who loves you unconditionally.
Great post – it’s like seeing the vision of what’s to come for me …..
