Beware of 3 Year Old

  • You know you are a mom when you go to write up an awesome blog post about their first day of pre-school and it takes you 4 hours just to edit the photos because your child will not nap and give you quiet time.
  • You know you are a mom when nothing on your To Do list is done and it’s 4pm because you child has been hanging off you non stop since they woke up this morning.
  • You know you are a mom when there is no meat and you are so beyond frustrated you say screw groceries let’s call for pizza. Oh yes this is what we are doing tonight.
  • You know you must be good at this mom thing when you are planning to have another one and can’t wait for that day to come. Let’s just pray baby sticks and that we have a healthy pregnancy. No I am not pregnant. Planning on it though.
  • You know you are a mom when you can’t wait for tomorrow as it’s a school day and you can get crap done.
  • You know you are a mom when it doesn’t matter how bad a day you had you can still look at your child and beam with pride and love for them.

Really I just want to share with you about his first day of school yesterday so snuck it into the meme. He started pre-school yesterday. He goes twice a week for 3 hours each. I went with him the first day as it was a drop-in kind of deal. He didn’t even care that I was there so I did what any sane mother would do. I came home! Went back to get him at lunch and found out he was amazing, did great and that he didn’t even care that I left. As much as that hurts at least I know I raised a child who is independent and doesn’t need his mom with him all the time.

Last sleep before pre-school

Last sleep before starting pre-school. My baby is no longer a baby.

Snack packed and ready to go

His snack bag all ready to go. Juice box, goldfish crackers and water.

Eating breakfast

Eating his breakfast before getting ready to go.

Getting in last minute hugs before we leave.

His Toy Story backpack hanging up on his hook. He loves his backpack.

Well that is about it for pictures I can share. I didn’t take any pictures inside the school to share as it’s kind of hard to get my kid without his face. Would be harder to get him from the back and not have any other kids in the picture. At least I got these ones that met my standards for blog posting to share with you guys. Thank you for reading and putting up with my tweets leading up to this major event. Kind of scared what I will be like next year when he starts Kindergarten.

I love it!! So glad you linked up! I’m going to go grab some chalk and write that on my front porch right now ;)

Your pics made me a little teary eyed because I know it won’t be too long before I’ll be doing the same thing with Tater.

Did you get the chalk? I am tempted to do mine in paint and just use chalk for the age part. Too bad I will probably be moving next year and don’t own the place or it would be VERY tempting.

I KNOW I’ll be worse then you when Lauren’s supposed to start JK next year. Ugh! I’m dreading it already!!

  3. Awwww – such a sweet post! When my kids started kindergarten, it was such a bittersweet moment for me. Today, I can’t believe that I have one in high school and one almost ready for middle school. Geez, the time just flies!

Oh my! I don’t even want to think of mine being in high school. I know I will wake up one day and feel like it all flew by and he is graduating high school.

Awwww! How sweet! Time sure does fly!!!

It really does. Some days I wish I could fast forward. You know those days where he is being extra trying on my patience. However most days I want to rewind or pause.

I have such a hard time falling asleep at night. It is usually around 3 when I do. 7 comes way too early. I love my comfy bed and my sleep. I wish I could fall asleep easier so I could enjoy it more.

Mine is in preschool & it kind of kills me when she wanders in to have her day…no clinging for mommy.

Again yesterday he just ran straight to his classroom after giving me a hug and saying bye. It hurts that he doesn’t need me but at the same time it feels great to raise an independent child who feels secure enough to go do their own thing and know that you will be back for them later.

I thought I would be the same way but it was actually nice. Same yesterday which was the 2nd day for him. What was really weird though is the quietness in my house and being alone. That will take a lot of getting used to.

I just love what the chalk message. I definitely agree with you about the dinner thing. I am planning on pizza for tomorrow!

The chalk message spoke volumes for that day. My parents came to visit that night and I opened the door and saw them reading it. I said “You’ve been warned” and opened the door wider to let them in.

  11. Stop that! You’re making me cry remembering my 19 yr old’s first day of kindergarten! The others, oh well, Michael was hard! I’m still pouty after reading your post. :(

It makes me so nervous for my little guy to go to school and he isn’t even two yet. I know I will be crying like a big baby. He will probably be like your son and not care if I am there but I will be missing him all day. I am a cry baby. And your list made me smile along with the extra cute pics.

Glad I could make you smile. They grow up to fast. I am just reminding myself that I am paying to have him in this program. Being a stay at home mom and he is an only child the program is good for him. It’s actually called Kindergarten readiness. Next year may be harder on me when he actually enters kindergarten.

What a beautiful post! I love the chalk message and I’m so happy to hear that he (and you!) did well with the transition to preschool.

Also – been meaning to ask someone, and I saw you have it – how did you get your watermark on your photos? It’s been on my list of blog things to look into…

Yeah they have that here but call it pre-school. I think the socialization will be good for him. I hate leaving my son at daycare but now that he is older and is having more fun I sometimes have to carry him out kicking and screaming. Makes me feel like he missed me – haha. At least I know he is having a good time. :)
